This is a possible match for the Millennium Broadway, Times Square Hilton, Crowne Plaza Manhattan or Intercontinental TS, as all four have been seen with this amenity set.

Hi all,

Need 4* or 3 1/2* from 9/28 - 10/01 -

I was trying now already several times to get a hotel for this period. I went up to 205 $ for TS/MTW. For MTE/CS went up to 170$.

I'm a bit unsure about MTE/ESB/MSG areas as it will be my second time only to New York and I have no feeling for the distances. Any recommendation if I can get a good hotel for the above mentioned prices in these areas?

Were all the bids above at the 3.5* level?

Here is a rundown of zones:

At the 4*, all of the 'known' hotels in the MTE, MTW, TS, CPS and ESB are all considered to be well located and convenient. Downtown is less convenient, but still do-able, so at the right price is a viable option if budget is more important than convenience. Other zones, such as Chelsea, HK, and UWS can begin to get a little 'out of the way'... NYC isn't that big geographically speaking, so you can work around most situations in terms of convenience, but these latter zones can be a little further from the subway (the only 'known' 4* hotel in UWS is the Empire hotel which is convenient, but this zone goes pretty far north, so should you land a new 4* hotel, it's not the ideal scenario)

At the 3.5* level MTW, TS, ESB and MSG are all considered 'pretty good'. Some zones with nuances:

MTE - some hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway. Not terrible, but not ideal.

CPS - had the Hudson Hotel which is well located but notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards)

MSG - although included above as 'pretty good' note that this zone includes the Affinia Manhattan which is a good hotel with good reviews, but there have been some reports of 'priceline bias' at this property with priceline guests receiving smaller, sub-par, rooms

Based upon the above, let us know your thoughts... i'm guessing for a well located 4* you're looking about $240-$250... for a 3*/3.5* about $200-$210.

Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

Hi all,

just got the Intercontinetal The Barclay for 230$+Tax for 28 September - 1 October. I'm not sure if the deal is so good, but I'm happy that the hotel is booked. Reviews and Tripadvisor seems to be ok, location is excellent. Thanks for helping me with the advices.

Best regards from Germany

Congratulations on your success!

While not cheap in dollar terms, neither is NYC, and for these particular dates this seems to be a pretty nice deal. About a 30% discount to a conventional booking and this property should work well for your needs.

You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.

Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.

Enjoy your stay.
