I am going to the ameircan dental association covention oct 9-12. It will be at the mandalay bay and I would like to find something near there (south strip).

The ada has locked up alot of rooms at the Mandalay bay/the hotel, mgm/signature, four seasons, and luxor. The reservation deadline is Sep. 16. I hope that after that date there will be better availability. Any advice would be apreciated.

Auntkrusty, my friend will be attending this convention as well and said that the ADA offers discounts for people attending the convention, check this out:

Starting on April 6, the ADA will offer housing discounts at six official ADA hotels including Mandalay Bay, THEhotel at Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, Signature at MGM, Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas and Luxor Las Vegas, all conveniently located on the South Strip. In-room internet access (either wired or wireless) will be complimentary in the ADA's official hotel block, and resort fees are either complimentary or included in the rates.

Discounts are available now for Annual Session attendees traveling on United Airlines, and discounted car rental services are provided by Alamo Rent A Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental.

More information can be found on ada.org/session.

My buddy said it was a huuuuuuuugely great deal, so I'd check that out. But also be sure to click the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links on this site about 50 more times.

I would pay up to 70 night for a 3.5 star or up to 100 for a 4 star.

I have seen the ada hotel rates and they are not that great compared to priceline and hotwire prices.

Do you think prices will get better once the ada releases excess invintory on Sep16?

I don't see the ADA lowering their prices, their rooms are filling up, the Luxor at their rates are already filled as are a couple others , Mandalay Bay is 209. I don't know about others lowering prices, my own experience with vegas is prices rise the longer you wait, but thats just what I've experienced. Maybe someone else can shed some more light on that.

I have the Signature Mgm reserved for 125 a night for Oct. 9-12. It is cancallable up to 72 hrs prior. I would like a 5 or 4 star for 90 or less do you think it is worth bidding? I need to be in the South strip area since my meetings are at the mandalay bay.

If you look at other posts, you see that there are wins for 4 stars below your max, mid-week in Oct. So it should be doable to get a 4 star. 5 star I doubt it though. It's always worth a try I think! The only problem with bidding 4 start in South Strip is that it is always possible to get Westin.

I'd start at $85 and work higher in an attempt to get a 4* on South Strip; 5* South Strip MAY be possible, but I'd guess it would be towards the top end of your desired range (around $115-125) if it is possible.
