at7815 Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 So two of us will be flying to NYC on September 8th and staying until the 11th. Looking for a 3.5 or 4 star hotel in the Midtown East or West area for $200 or less. Can you please recommend a bidding strategy for my situation? We would like to stay in a central location and on budget. TIA!
thereuare Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! Not sure if your budget will be enough, but to begin, are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?Is a very small room, like those at the Hudson Hotel, acceptable? Is a 15 minute walk to the subway 'centrally located' enough?Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. at7815 Posted August 29, 2011 Author Report Posted August 29, 2011 Thanks for your reply. We will really only use the hotel to sleep so the location is key. If the rooms are really small, that's ok. As long as there's a queen bed and a shower, we're good. The goal is the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay. I would not consider a 15 minute walk to the subway "centrally located." At least not to start. Thanks a lot. I am ready to start the bidding and see if I get lucky.
thereuare Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Looking for a 3.5 or 4 star hotel in the Midtown East or West...At 3.5* and below in MTE there are some hotels which can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway, which as per your reply above is not acceptable at this point in time, and would leave you with only bidding the MTW zone. Are there others zones which are acceptable? Is there a reason you're not including MSG, TS, and/or ESB in your bidding, which are all generally considered centrally located? As long as there's a queen bed...A queen bed is not guaranteed... only that the room will accommodate double occupancy. If this is not a deal breaker, please read your messages and click this PRICELINE link and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. at7815 Posted August 30, 2011 Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 Thanks. Let's stick to 4* then and yes, we can do MTW, MSG, TS and ESB. Not having a queen bed would not be a deal breaker. I will use the link from this forum. Would you please recommend a strategy? Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Let's stick to 4* then and yes, we can do MTW, MSG, TS and ESB.There are no 4* hotels in the MSG zone... and at the 4* leavel all the 'known' hotels are well located. As well, is ESB acceptable, as this is generally well located as well.I think $200 or under for a 4* is going to be tough for these dates, so it would be best to include as many zones as possible which are acceptable. Please confirm if/that MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB are all acceptable and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your bidding.
