Priceline Hotel: Resort Kauai (Poipu-Koloa) Grand Hyatt Kauai

Hi,

I was wondering if you can suggest which areas are best to bid on and what techniques I should use for the following dates. I'd like to stick to resorts, 5 stars, or at least 4 star hotels. Budget under $150 would be great if possible.

Oct 14 - 18, 2011 - Kauai

preferable area is Poipu - Koloa - which I guess from the hotel list means the Grand Hyatt Kauai.

I noticed the Sheraton was downgraded to 3.5* does anyone know what it was before? Is there are a chance this would be upgraded since I am booking for October?

Which area is 'best' really depends upon your needs... Poipu-Koloa is probably the most popular, but it's a bit if a hike if you intend to head up to Princeville at all. Kapaa-Lihue is closest to the airport and between the two other zones.

Tried getting the Hyatt, bid $150 first, no luck,they offered me a rebid at $194, I declined, added Princeville $160 ... still no luck. Seems like people are getting this hotel for $170 during this time

I ended up splitting up my trip so that I can spend more time at different parts of the island. I ended up getting the Resort Grand Hyatt Kauai for Oct 16-18 for $170. Tried $165 first and then Rebid for $170 and got it. Once I confirm and get the hotel for Oct 14-16... I will post and let everyone know.

So far for Kappa - Lihue - I've bid $70, $80, then $90 today without success. I haven't seen Many people win any resorts recently either. Maybe Hotwire is the better way to go... since it looks like the Beach Resort can be had for around $115.
