AaronJB Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 I'm still seeing the prior amenity set with hotel 3; are you still seeing this new amenity set (which I'm guessing MAY be the MGM w/another amenity set) when searching?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
butterla Posted June 23, 2011 Author Report Posted June 23, 2011 Thanks for your quick reply. The reason why you are seeing a descrepancy is because you don't see one of the amenities (SPA) until you click on the 'see all' link by the amenities. (The popup that appears with the amenity descriptions). Nevertheless, the wireless amenity is still a difference from hotel 3. I am not sure if this is a glitch with Hotwire or what?
AaronJB Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 I'm still seeing;Casino Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Golf Nearby Spa Services With this listing when searching this evening for both 4 adults and 2 adults.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

butterla Posted August 12, 2011 Author Report Posted August 12, 2011 Hello Everyone, I could really use some of your help. I am looking to use Priceline for the first time to book a 4* hotel in the Las Vegas South Vicinity for October 7-10 (3 nights). I am planning a father-son weekend so I would need two rooms. I have been doing some research on the board and have a general idea of how Priceline works as well as some of the Vegas specifics. I would be happy with any of the 4* hotels in the Strip South zone with the exeption of the Westin. Although, the Westin can't be too bad. A few questions...1) On other travel sites, the Westin appears to be sold out of rooms for October 7-10. Does this decrease my liklihood of winning the Westin via Priceline?2) I noticed that the Platinum Hotel appears to be another 4* "Westin" like hotel on the Las Vegas south strip vicinity. Has anyone ever won this hotel through Priceline as a 4* (south vicinity)?3) What would be your recommended bidding strategy to get the hotels listed above? I don't want to spend more than $125 a night. If that's the case, I could just go to other sites.I use the hotwire and priceline bidding links that are provided by betterbidding.com. Thanks in advance for all of your help! I love the site and recommend it to friends.
thereuare Posted August 12, 2011 Report Posted August 12, 2011 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread, if you ultimately use PRICELINE we'll then move the entire thread to that section of the board.1) On other travel sites, the Westin appears to be sold out of rooms for October 7-10. Does this decrease my liklihood of winning the Westin via Priceline?Yes, decreases the likelihood, but doesn't totally eliminate it as a possibility.2) I noticed that the Platinum Hotel appears to be another 4* "Westin" like hotel on the Las Vegas south strip vicinity. Has anyone ever won this hotel through Priceline as a 4* (south vicinity)? All hotels reported to the board are in the Priceline Hotel List.3) What would be your recommended bidding strategy to get the hotels listed above?Note that the 5* hotels are also a possibility since the star rating you choose is the minimum you're willing to accept and your 4* bid could be upgraded to a 5* rated property. Are you ready to begin bidding now? Please click this PRICELINE link before replying. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
butterla Posted August 13, 2011 Author Report Posted August 13, 2011 ok, clicked on the PRICELINE link. yes, I am ready to start bidding. A lot of the 4 and 5* hotels in the south vicinity range between $160 to $300 a night on other travel sites. Any thoughts on my strategy? The Luxor is a 3.5 star, right?
thereuare Posted August 13, 2011 Report Posted August 13, 2011 At the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones (NOTE: Summerlin is NOT a re-bid zone since it contains Resort class properties). Thanks to this site, I scored the Planet Hollywood Towers for $120 a night using Priceline (and your link) for October 7-10 (2 rooms). After seeing a PH Towers win recently posted during the same dates, I went for it and got it. I had a backup Monte Carlo reservation just in case I could not get any hotels via Priceline. I was concerned about getting the Westin but after I found that the hotel seems booked on most travel sites, it became less of a concern. Over the last week, I have bid up the 5* south and north vicinity hotels up to $145 with no success. Very happy with the PH Towers for $120 a night and no resort fee. Thanks for all of your help!
