GregGiberson Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 I am trying to get a 4- or 3.5-star room either in the "Michigan Avenue-River North" or "Millenium-Loop-Grant Park" areas of downtown Chicago for September 16-20. I am looking for something in the area of $100 a night. Is this a realistic amount for that time of year? I've tried the past few days and my bid gets rejected. Should I up my bid now or should I wait longer? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

GregGiberson Posted August 21, 2011 Author Report Posted August 21, 2011 Thanks. I clicked the PRICELINE link. I can't actually try to book again until this evening around 10 since I had tried a bid last night, but I will definitely use the links from this site to do my purchases.Your help is appreciated.
AaronJB Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 Unfortunately, Fall in Chicago is often on the expensive side due to more reasonable weather and a number of conventions. There's a number of smaller conventions and one mid-sized one (13K, although that shouldn't have a massive effect on rates - there's a 24K one that starts on the last day, so it may have an increase on rates for the night of the 19th) for this time period. Given the rates for these dates in terms of regular rates (generally around $225-250 to $300 and up) and HOTWIRE rates, I think $100 for these dates is unfortunately unrealistic for a 4* in either of the two downtown zones - you're probably looking at $125-150 and possibly North of that, if hotels are not aggressively discounting for these dates.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Husker505 Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 Tried again tonight. 4*. 3.5*. and 3* in the NMA, Lincoln Park, and Millineum Park area. 115, 122, and 127.... No luck again tonight....
thereuare Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 At the moment i'm guessing you'll need to be around $150-$160 to win a 3* or better for these nites... what is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
