Priceline Hotel: Andaz Wall Street Strategy? October 2011

I'm looking to visit NYC and would like to stay in the Wall Street area, particularly at the Andaz hotel. Any recommendations as to how I might bid to get this property? Thanks!

You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates.

Thank you for the information. I realize I might not get it, but from older posts, it looks like this hotel has been won before. However, recently, looks like there are other hotels in that category that might be more likely to be won if bidding on Priceline.

I am planning a weekend in October 1-3 or 8-10...probably more likely the latter. If there are any tips, please let me know. Thanks!

The property has been won before, but there is no way to increase the odds of getting a particular property. Additionally, some properties may appear as wins quite often then go through a long period without being seen. Overall, one has to be willing to accept any property. HOTWIRE is not showing a 4* on either of these periods in the Downtown-Soho-Financial District, but what appears to be the W is showing during both periods - the 10/8-10 period is cheaper at $229.
