AaronJB Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)This would be a possible match for the Swissotel. In terms of renting a car, are you going to be coming into the airport and just staying within the downtown area?I really (really, really, really) do not recommend a car if you are just going to be staying downtown and going to/from the airport. If you plan on taking trips around the area (hence the need for a car) and are going to be spending part of the time downtown, I'd consider staying in the 'burbs (free parking, cheaper hotels) and then taking public transit into the city.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Also is it worth to add a car rental through them?I think this one is the Swissotel also. Would you say this is a good deal? We are arriving late Friday night into O'hare and leaving early saturday morning for South Bend and will be back to Chicago later in the day Saturday. Our other thoughts were staying somewhere cheaper near the airport Friday night then stay somewhere nicer near Magnificent Mile Saturday night. Will I still be able to find a good deal for something just Saturday night or am I better off booking for both Friday and Sat night?
AaronJB Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 My guess for the 3.5* Mag Mile property for 9/3-4 only would be the Club Quarters Wacker/Michigan.My view on your options:1. Stay at the potential Swiss both nights. Parking at a city lot will be about $24, but hotel parking will run $45-55. I'm seeing a $149 rate on the hotel website, so this isn't a *great* deal, but nice hotel and discounts don't seem aggressive at all for these days - may be something going on (and/or may be something going on on the second night, and as a result, rates are higher for that night and the night before is not aggressively discounted, given that people may be arriving the night prior - convention?)2. Stay out by O'Hare for the first night, and based upon the rates I'm seeing, you could possibly get something for $40-45 at the 4* level in either O'Hare zone. Given that you're not getting in until late, this may not be a bad idea, especially if you're getting in late enough to the point where you wouldn't really be doing anything downtown anyways. Stay downtown the second night, although the second night by itself is more expensive - there is a 4* in the Loop for $145, and the previously mentioned 3.5* Mag Mile for $132.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
bskinn77 Posted August 20, 2011 Author Report Posted August 20, 2011 I ended up booking the 4 star Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville area hotel for 9/2-9/4 and it was indeed the Swissotel. Thank you!
AaronJB Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Very nice result for this property by the river. If you do rent a car via PRICELINE bidding or HOTWIRE, please post the win in the car rental section of the board. I'd recommend either parking in the Millennium Park lot (which is only a few blocks from the Swiss - easy walk) for $24, or at Navy Pier, which is $25. Parking at the Swissotel is $49.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
