chickendrumstick Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 I think I've left my hotel booking a bit late and now I'm getting worried I wont be able to get a hotel within my budget. I'm very flexible as to where the hotel should be in Manhattan as its a sightseeing trip and I wont be spending much time at the hotel.Check in: 16 September 2011Check out: 18 September 2011Where: Anywhere in ManhattanPrice: $180Hotel stars: 3* or aboveFor those dates Hotwire's cheapest hotels are$196 for 2* Central park Hotel (above my budget and I will book it if I have to as it seems to be the cheapest available)$250 for 3* Chelsea - Madison square garden hotelCan I get a hotel for under $200 in NYC for those dates? I have spent some time reading on the Priceline forums but Im getting confused the more I read. Im also in Africa so I'm worried my credit card wont work as I've read its a common problem.Help appreciated - I dont need the BEST possible deal like the Priceline pros. Just a place to stay within my budget. Will follow instructions word for word :)
thereuare Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 Check in: 16 September 2011Check out: 18 September 2011Where: Anywhere in ManhattanPrice: $180Hotel stars: 3* or aboveDo you want to include UES and UWS in your bidding as these each go pretty far north and not where most visitors typically want to stay (NOTE: these PRICELINE areas are covered by HOTWIRE's "Central Park" zone so that 2* may not be where you ideally want to be)I'll also mention that 4* hotels in PRICELINE's Jersey City-Hoboken zone are near PATH train stations which provide easy access (~15 minutes) to Manhattan. You do lose the 'buzz' and 'vibe' of the city, but it's certainly a very do-able option and you could likely get something there for ~$135/nite for a 4* hotel (so up to you whether you think this is a better/worse option then a 2* Central Park property in Manhattan)Let us know your thoughts and/or confirm if you want to include UES/UWS in your bidding and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
