hashmanx Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 I was looking for a hotel in new york city for 1 night on 8/20 and didn't want to spend too much. I just wanted a place to sleep for the night and my only requirement was that it should be somewhat close to manhattan and offered parking since I was driving there.I started from the links here for PRICELINE and first bid on 4* hotels in manhattan but quickly reached my max of $120 (without tax), I knew I was being very optimistic but you never know :) Next I lowered the star level to 3.5* and repeated the process of rebidding and adding locations but still no luck. Then reality set in and I lowered the star level to 3* and started bidding again, but this time I limited myself to Long Island City as I had stayed at holiday inn manhattan view last year and had a very good experience. I started my bid at $75 and kept on increasing my bid in $5 increments until I reached $110 and ended up getting a room at H.I. Manhattan view! Total price $140 (all inclusive) and within my budget :) Although I paid $99 (all inclusive) last year when the hotel was fairly new but it seems they've increased their rates a lot since then as the cheapest advertised rate on their website is $189 plus taxes!!
