curiousbunny Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 First time using Priceline and have been actively bidding for approx. 1 week now. Going to NY on Sept. 20th and checking out on the 23rd (this year). Been choosing 4 star and have even attempted 3 star hotels. Areas are all of Midtown, Upper East, Chelsea, Empire, Upper West and TS. First time to see NY!!! Two of us going on this trip. I'm just wondering if it's truly feasible to have a winning bid within those areas for no more than $250 a night with 4 weeks left. Please advise since I'm not sure if I'm approaching the bid selections correctly! Thanks!!
thereuare Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Been choosing 4 star and have even attempted 3 star hotels.Have you already bid up to $250 at the 3* level in all of the previous zones? The United Nations is in session during these dates which always causes a spike in hotel rates. As an option (just so you can consider it) you could probably get a 4* hotel in Hoboken-Jersey City (NJ) with easy access to a PATH train to take you to/from the city (~15 minute ride and operates 24/7). It's not the ideal situation as you do lose the 'vibe' of the city, but not sure how flexible you are in regards to budget/star rating, so at least throwing it out there as something to consider.Let us know regarding the previous bids/star rating you have done, as well as your thoughts regarding hoboken/jersey city and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
