Priceline Hotel: Bidding on a hotel that is not a Resort or 4*

I've noticed that all if not most of the winning bids for Oahu are for Resorts or 4* hotels. I've got my eye set on a hotel that is considered a 1* hotel on priceline. Is this not worth bidding on? Resorts make me think of children running around screaming, and it's just too easy to get wrapped up in a resort, and never leave it to really explore the city. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks

I think it all depends on what the person is looking for. Take New York City, for example: someone could be looking for a 5* because they are looking for luxury and a significant amount of added amenities/personalized service. Another person could be just fine with a 2.5*/3* because they are much more concerned with exploring the city and don't want to pay for a room they won't be in or amenities they won't use. Both options are different, but right for the particular traveler. There's no "wrong answer", and you can apply that in this case.

I would be rather concerned with a 1* and with PRICELINE you could get a 1* that you didn't intend. Otherwise, not going for a 4* or Resort and potentially paying more for amenities you won't use is perfectly fine and understandable.
