shorttheworld Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 going to be visiting the city to be looking at schools -- dont really mind if its a 3 or a 4, as long as there will be decent bedding and in a good area to explore the city :) Any tips or hints either in terms of the city or strategy ? Don't really want to spend over a hundred a night, if i can do 80 a night that would be great.. also should i go ahead and retry each and every single day or will the computer see my bidding schedule and say 'no' around that? is this a busy time for the city?
AaronJB Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)This is definitely a busier time in the city; I think under $100 is doable, but I think it's going to fall short at the 4* (and possibly 3.5*) level. 3*, however, should be no problem - there is a 3* on HOTWIRE for $96. If you do bid for 3*, I would recommend only focusing on the NMA-River North area. If you are driving in, then you could stay outside the city for cheaper, but it becomes taking the trek into the city each day on the Metra train. Which schools do you plan to visit? shorttheworld Posted August 17, 2011 Author Report Posted August 17, 2011 Thanks for noticing -- grabbed it -- thought it was the Sheraton 4 points but it was ac tually the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza -- guess they have a pool now?! haha $96 bucks a night. Looking at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business
shorttheworld Posted August 17, 2011 Author Report Posted August 17, 2011 Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, LaundryThanks!!
AaronJB Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Very nice deal for this Holiday Inn property, which is right next to an "L" station. Please let me know if you have any city questions. If you do decide to go to school in Chicago, I'd recommend looking at apartments in the Lincoln Park area - there are some reasonable places there and it's a nice area with plenty of restaurants, nightlife and other activities (such as the Zoo) and also pretty convenient to downtown.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
