harleyalij Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Hi there,First off, this is an awesome, informative, and very helpful forum. Keep up the good work! I have already used the PRICELINE link from here several times.I'd like to get a 5 star hotel in the north end of the strip between Oct 6-10. My budget would be about $650 all in for the four nights. I've already tried bidding $130 and the bid was rejected on Priceline. Also, I don't want to stay at trump.I'm also willing to look at the south side. From my research on this forum, I guess 115-135 would the ranges for the south side? Any strategies you'd recommend for both North/ South? Thanks is advance!
thereuare Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Your goal of $650 all-in for 4 nites amounts to about a $140/nite bid which i don't think it likely going to be enough for a 5* property based upon current rates for these dates. If you want to give it a try, at the 5* level you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip North and Strip South...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. harleyalij Posted August 17, 2011 Author Report Posted August 17, 2011 Thanks for the response.I tried that today and went up until $145 without any luck. Can I try the same bids again at a later day? Just wondering if there are better days to try on?
AaronJB Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 You can try the same bids again, but if these dates are busy for any reason, a higher rate will continue to be required (and rates overall could move higher.) There is not a "better day"/time for bidding.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
harleyalij Posted August 18, 2011 Author Report Posted August 18, 2011 Ok, will do.I've been watching the fares over the past few weeks and they've been hovering over $225 for 5* hotels on the strip.Out of curiousity, what should I be looking at paying for a 5* on the south and the north side for that time of the year?
thereuare Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 I'm guessing close to $150-$170 seems more realistic. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide for this stay and how we can be of further help. harleyalij Posted December 22, 2011 Author Report Posted December 22, 2011 Ended up getting a package deal from Expedia instead. It worked out to be about $210/ night (taxes in).The strategies listed here really helped and I'll definitely use them for the next trip. Thanks!
