stopper345 Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 I know everyone has had a tough time getting successful bids for this week (9/12/11 to 9/18/11) with the UN in session and the peak season in NYC. I have a convention that week and the organizers were offering the Sheraton at $359 a night plus tax. I also saw thru other hotel site that they were offering the Sheraton at $279 for the night of 9/17/11 Friday if you booked more than 4 days while the other weekday nights were $459By the way, I have been bidding everyday for all zones for over one month now in New York. I couldn't even get the Sheraton in Brooklyn. I had been bidding mostly for the whole week up to $250. Today I changed and this time I split it up to bid only for Friday & Saturday nights (9/16/11 - 9/18/11 and it was successful. I tried to add the two nights before but it was rejected. So I tried again for one night before and was successful. I will book with the convention organizer for the other nights at $359.Interesting that they charge you more tax on one night stay (Taxes & Fees $62.74) than two nights - Taxes & Fees $117.82 ($58.91 per night). Anyone know why?Original ReservationOffer Price Per Room, Per Night: $265.00 Subtotal: $530.00 Taxes & Fees $117.82 ($58.91 per night)Total Charges for Original Reservation*: $647.82 Additional Nights ReservationOffer Price Per Room, Per Night: $265.00 Subtotal: $265.00 Taxes & Fees $62.74 Total Charges for Original Reservation*: $327.74 I want to thank everyone here for posting their successful bids. This is my first time posting but I have gained valuable insight to many successful bids in the last year. If you haven't posted before - please do - as it helps everyone save some money.AND I used the PRICELINE link here for my bid. Cheers!
AaronJB Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Congrats on your success and Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Superb deal for this NYC Sheraton during a very busy period. Glad you are pleased with the result.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
thereuare Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 The 'fees and taxes' includes PRICELINE's booking fee, and the per nite fee goes down the longer the stay, which accounts for the per nite difference in 'taxes and fees' between your two nite stay and one nite stay.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.Have a great trip.PS- close to the Sheraton NY is the famous late nite (7:30pm-4am) food cart if you're looking for some late nite eats. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
