the watcher Posted August 16, 2011 Report Posted August 16, 2011 Hey guys,im trying to target a Hotel that is in the St-Foy area (Hotel Sepia). In the hotels list i see it as the only 3* under St-Foy, but when i search Priceline.com normally i see the hotel listed under quebec city and not St-Foy. Additionally i see other properties listed as 3* in St-Foy such as Clarion. Also someone on this forum recently got the sepia as a 3* property in St-Foy ()My question basically is, if the hotel is listed on priceline.com under Quebec City now, and not under St-Foy, does that mean that it won't pop if i bid on a 3* St-Foy property and that they changed its geo location, or is there a discrepancy between normal priceline purchase and priceline bidding list?thx!
AaronJB Posted August 16, 2011 Report Posted August 16, 2011 On the Quebec area map when using the Name Your Own Price bidding side of the service, this property falls within the Saint Foy area. The zones on the bidding side of the service can vary from the retail side. The Sepia is the only 3* that has been reported to the board in this zone, but there could be others not yet reported to the board. There is no way to target/guarantee a particular property when bidding.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
the watcher Posted August 16, 2011 Author Report Posted August 16, 2011 ok so what you are saying is that i am guaranteed that if Sepia is available for bidding, it will be under St-Foy? But as you said there could be other hotels that are 3* that have not been reported?
Romelle Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 You can verify if the Sepia is still in the St-Foy bidding zone with a little map work. Zoom in on the Priceline bidding zone map until you can see street names. At the same time, using the full street address, locate the Sepia on something like a Yahoo or Google map. Then compare the maps and see if the Sepia is within the shaded area of the current Priceline St-Foy bidding zone. Priceline changes the areas of the zone maps from time to time. Therefore, a hotel earlier reported in a zone isn't necessarily still within it. This doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen. It is very possible to get a hotel that has not yet been reported. It has happened to me several time over the years.Romelle
