Priceline Hotel: What should I bid for Chelsea AC Fri/Sat?

What ballpark do I need to be in for bidding to get the 4-star Chelsea AC for a 2-night weekend in August? I see they have rooms on their site for $200/night + tax, so I figured around $130 - $150. Haven't gone all the way up to $150/room yet but wanted to get an idea once my 24-hr window becomes active again.

And...have done my bidding so far through the PRICELINE link on this site

Help! Thanks,

Well, I've done some low-balling, but that's about it.

I went from $90 up to $120 so far, but I'd be willing to go to $150 and a bit beyond if needed. I used all my zones yesterday so I'll be able to bid again tonight around 7 or so.

On the Chelsea's site, the average for those two nights in the Annex tower is $206 a night, and the Luxe tower is about $250 a night.

Thanks for the help!

You do realize you could win ANY 4* in the zone in which you are bidding?

There are a couple others in the hotel list (first post in this Priceline-NJ area), and it is always possible to get something nobody else has yet reported.

It seems like the Chelsea is by far the cheapest 4* at least in terms of SRP in the AC downtown Zone, and the other zone's I'm bidding don't have 4*s. If I get another one, so be it...but it seems like the Chelsea is most likely. Any 4* would be fine, of course.

The problem is really the Saturday night, which is more expensive. I'm seeing the Luxe for $255 non-refundable on the hotel website, but what appears to be the Chelsea is showing on HOTWIRE for $253, so discounts are likely limited.

You could try going up to $150, but I'm guessing the worst case scenario is that this may take closer to $200.

Thanks Aaron, would you recommend trying another star level -- think a 3 or 3.5 would get me where I want to be? The only one on the list I really don't want to get stuck in is the convention center, but that's the nature of the beast I guess.

At this point, I've tried 3 more times on the 4*, at $130, $145, and $153. No dice. Thinking about giving $165 a try then giving up.

Thanks again!

If $165 is your max at the 4* level, I'd try up to that point - if you were successful at that level it would still be a very good deal for the busy weekend period.

If unsuccessful, I'd start again at $125 and work higher by $10's at the 3.5* level.

No-go on the $165, that was rejected as well. I can already tell that the Sheraton will be cheaper than the Golden Nugget, etc, that weekend so I'm reluctant to go gung-ho on the 3.5* or the 3*, but I guess I'll do what I need to in order to lock something down. Had hoped to have some sort of view of some water and a casino/beach within reasonable distance.

Realistically, would you think I'm pretty close at $165 on the 4-star? I won't go right up to 200 but I have one more bid to give today on the 4*, so I wonder if $175 would get it for me or would it likely have to be higher?

ACorBust,

Please read your messages.

At the moment, for a 4* i'm guessing you're looking somewhere in the $200-$225 area.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Let us know what you decide to do and how it goes or if we can be of further help.

I ended up going to $171 and still didn't get anything. I think this probably would have been enough for the 3* golden nugget and possibly the sheraton as well, but decided on something in West Atlantic City directly through the hotel's site. Tall task to find the good deal in the summer.

Oh well!

Thanks for all the help and insight. Used the PRICELINE link for my bidding. Just wanted to close this out.
