dctravel Posted August 15, 2011 Report Posted August 15, 2011 My budget is about $90. The nearer to Harvard Square the better, but obviously I have little control over this. What should I be aiming for?

dctravel Posted August 16, 2011 Author Report Posted August 16, 2011 I responded in the above thread - it was a year ago so my memory is somewhat hazy, but what I do remember is that this website provided invaluable advice - thank you!
thereuare Posted August 16, 2011 Report Posted August 16, 2011 Can you please add another reply to your Priceline DC thread with which Renaissance you received and also the amount of your bid price (before fees and taxes). You should still be able to view all of this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page. Please remember to follow-up your threads with whatever you end up doing for the stay, even if you choose to book direct, cancel your trip, etc.In regards to your Cambridge stay, what star level you are seeking? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. dctravel Posted August 16, 2011 Author Report Posted August 16, 2011 I am not too concerned about the star level, as long as the hotel/area is reasonably comfortable and safe - the higher the star rating the better obviously, but if a particular star rating offers a better chance of being near Harvard Square, I'd prioritise that.
thereuare Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 You can enter "Harvard Square" into the search box at MAPS and HOTELS.com and see if there is a higher percentage of hotels at a certain star rating in the immediate area surrounding Harvard Square, but keep in mind that you could just as easily receive a hotel of this star rating in another part of the zone OR you could receive a higher rated hotel if PRICELINE upgrades your star level.I'd also suggest seeing the Priceline Hotel List to see if all hotels at a given star level are generally close to where you want to bid, as well as search HOTWIRE to see if a hotel can be reasonably identified as being close to your desired location, as that may be worth paying a little extra for. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. dctravel Posted August 17, 2011 Author Report Posted August 17, 2011 Looking at the hotel list none are particularly close to Harvard Sq, but this isn't such an enormous issue. Basically I'm looking for the best deal for around $80-90 in Cambridge.
thereuare Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 When bidding this region you have FOUR re-bid zones at the 3.5* level... TWO re-bid zone at the 3* level... ONE re-bid zones at the 2.5* level.I would begin with the following:Select 3.5* Cambridge...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Cambridge...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINEBid 2.5* Caambridge...Bid $70If the above is rejected, i would also consider bidding the Quincy Market zone and taking the T to Harvard Square if that would work for your plans, as i think this zone may offer one of the better bang for the buck for this nite, but if the above is rejected you can tell us your thoughts on the Quincy Market zone and/or we can revise the above strategy for just the Cambridge zone. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us now how it goes.
