dinosaurateme Posted June 28, 2011 Author Report Posted June 28, 2011 I've been searching everywhere for a decent price on a nice hotel in Vegas. I'll be there 10/28 to 11/1. I'm thinking priceline is better for me than hotwire. Can anyone tell me what kind of prices I can expect through priceline? My budget is $125 p/night, but the less money spent, the better. Also, when is the best time to book this? Prices seem pretty high right now, and i'm hoping they'll go down in a couple months. I would also prefer not to stay at the Trump or Vdara (basically, I want to stay in a casino). Any help is greatly appreciated....thx
Tuffdog Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 I'm trying to get almost same dates for last week with no luck. I PRICELINE bid up to 167 5star north strip. HOTWIRE won't even show anything south strip if I select more than 1 room.
petrel800 Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 I would venture to say that Holloween weekend in Las Vegas is probably a pretty good weekend to be out there. At this point I would think that several hotels are banking on high occupancy that weekend, they have several months to fill hotel rooms before they get desperate. I did run a quick search on Expedia, and if you have to book something now, it seems like there are several 3.5 and 4* hotels that will meet your 125/nt rate. Maybe book something you can get a refund on now, and then try the priceline/hotwire deal a little later on. Bally's is 119/nt on Expedia, and I've always enjoyed my stay there, a little older, but easy to get an upgrade. Also, there is no resort fee, and you're on the middle of the strip. It would be my bet that hotels will wait a little longer to start heavily discounting rooms on Halloween weekend, but that's just my guess.
dinosaurateme Posted June 28, 2011 Author Report Posted June 28, 2011 Thanks for the response, petrel. I'm reaallllyyy hoping I can snag the Venetian for cheap. I'll probably wait until August until I book something...
AaronJB Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 Please keep all posts regarding this stay within this thread.$125 will not likely be quite enough for a 5* in the North Strip area for these dates at this point, but I would start bidding, working up from $90 by $5's until you reach your $125 max. Additionally, as noted above, you may want to consider a back-up reservation that you can cancel. Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE, Expedia, Orbitz or Travelocity links to start your purchases and searches.
dinosaurateme Posted August 15, 2011 Author Report Posted August 15, 2011 I have been bidding for a couple months now. Was bored at work and for the hell of it, I tried bidding and actually won at $150 a night.
AaronJB Posted August 15, 2011 Report Posted August 15, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Very good result for this 5* Vegas property.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
