Question about Priceline bids

I have used Priceline in the past, but it has been a while. here is a question I have always wondered:

Lets say you has these two 3* hotels in your desired area:

Hotel A - Advertised price on Priceline is $65

Hotel B - Advertised price on Priceline is $130

Lets say you really wanted to stay at Hotel B. If you bid $75, will you most likely end up with Hotel A and overpaying? If you bid anything under $65, what realistic chance do you have of getting Hotel B?

Seems like it could be nearly impossible to get the "better" or more expensive 3* hotel unless the cheaper ones are sold out. Am I right on this?
