Priceline Hotel: 4* San Francisco (USE) Hyatt Regency

I've tried 5 bids from $75-90 ($5 incremental raises) for USE 4* and used all my free re-bids (love the tips on re-bidding) to no success. Any suggestions? Does anyone know if there is something special happening this weekend in SF?

Also, what are people's thoughts on Fisherman's Wharf 4* hotels? My husband wants to try that area, but I haven't heard the best about the hotels in that area. Would really appreciate any helpful tips.

Thanks!!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you look at the rates at the HYATT they are much higher than usual... indicative of high demand (at least at that property... as the Omni is not at its cheapest, but still 'inline').

There is a 12,000 attendees convention which begins on the 12th, but i wouldn't think that would be enough to drive up demand too much.

Actually i just checked a few hotels for the nites individually and the nite of the 11th is higher than the 10th, so maybe it is the above convention?

I think most people typically add the USW zone before bidding Fisherman's Wharf. Four star bidding is relatively new in the Wharf zone, with the Sheraton recently being upgraded from 3* to 4*... so that is the most likely outcome if you bid that area.

I think you could be successful if you bid the nite of the 10th in the USE zone... but then you'd have to change hotels for the 2nd nite of your stay (potentially in USW or FW?)

Let us know your thoughts and/or what you decide to do. If we can be of more help, or you'd like a detailed bidding strategy for the other zones, feel free to ask.

Thanks so much for the helpful advice!

I ended up waiting to try again just now, and successfully bid on a hotel.

I did one bid for USE 4* at $80 for 6/10-12, and it was accepted! I know I could have started lower, but decided based on my last attempts and the low availability due to these crazy conferences to start a little higher.

We're staying at the Hyatt Regency which I sort of expected since I checked to see what was available on Hotels.com before I bid and saw that the Hyatt Regency still had rooms available for $150. I guess waiting until the last minute worked out this time.

Thanks again for all of the help!

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you were ultimately successful.

A quick check of rates direct at the Hyatt website shows that rates have come down since you first posted above. As an FYI, don't use Hotels.com as a source to check availability... always use the hotel's website which will be the most accurate relative to true supply/demand (we have links to many of them on our SUPPORT PAGE).

Enjoy your stay and thanks for the follow-up.
