travelgirl2010 Posted August 13, 2011 Report Posted August 13, 2011 Hi,Currently bidding for **** at Paris airport for 1 night 9/08/2011 - 9/09/2011. After reading some of the posts, started bidding at $70 hoping to get a deal. My last bid was today (8/13) at $145 and it got rejected. The counter offer from Priceline was $163. Kind of disappointing. Is anything going on during those dates? Will update this post with the winning bid, which will probably be close to $163. Still cheaper that booking directly but not that great of a deal. It buffles me how other members were able to get a **** hotel at Paris airport for $70.
kawpikat Posted August 13, 2011 Report Posted August 13, 2011 I've been having the same issues with Paris 4*. I think you have to bid when it is closer to your date of stay. I noticed other people posted their amazing bids about 1 day to a week before their stay. I am going to be patient and wait.
travelgirl2010 Posted August 13, 2011 Author Report Posted August 13, 2011 Thanks for your response. Actually, I saw the following winning bids for Marriott for later dates than what I need (9/8 - 9/9). 4* Paris Airports (Airport Charles de Gaulle CDG) Marriott$70 ... 9/12/11-9/13/11 Monday$63 ... 9/15/11-9/16/11 Thursday$80 ... 9/23/11-9/24/11 FridaySo not sure what is going on. The only explanation I have is that perhaps Marriott is booked and others are not taking such low bids. Orbitz, Expedia and Hotels.com say that Marriott is booked for 9/8 - 9/9, maybe that's the issue?
AaronJB Posted August 14, 2011 Report Posted August 14, 2011 Travelgirl, it would be greatly appreciated if you could provide a follow-up for your prior Priceline Reno thread.Unfortunately, rates do look on the high side for Paris for these dates and sorry to hear that the bidding has gone higher than hoped. You are close though, so I'd proceed higher slowly (by $2-3 each time) and hopefully the result will be closer to your last offer than the counter-offer.Thank you for keeping us updated and good luck on your next round of bidding.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
