Hello everyone, I am brand new to priceline, and would have never given it a chance without finding this site. Unfortunately I am looking for stays in the very near future, so I'm not sure how well priceline works with that.. but here's my story.

Looking for a room in Hamilton, ON Canada for Aug.15-16/11. Looks to me like there are a limited number of hotels priceline uses in Hamilton (Sheraton, Courtyard, and one other I think) I of course bidded terribly low ($40) just to see how it worked, and was rejected. What would be an appropriate move now? I have read over the rebidding process, but am weary as Hamilton is one zone, and I am not 100% sure I know how to figure out where there is a zone with only less stars that I have chosen (3). Should I just wait the 24 hours and rebid? If so, what would be an appropriate bid?

Also, the one I actually stumbled across this site to figure out, is a night in Toronto for Aug.17-18/11. Our main reason for staying is to go to Wonderland, so I chose Markham area, 4 star, $50 (once again, just kind of to see what happens). This seems like an appropriate time to rebid, including a zone with only 3* or less, but I don't understand how to even figure that out. If not, what would be an appropriate bid when the time limit is up and I keep the same settings?

Any help at all would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

PS. Definitely used the PRICELINE link for the Toronto hotel, unsure about the Hamilton one.

*UPDATE* I reread the bidding again before 24 hours post and believe I understand, but also as stated in that post would like to ask before I go through with it.

Toronto area - oringal bid - 4* $50 Markham

Rejected

Used the priceline search box in the top right corner of this website to search toronto and such again.

When I choose Brampton, only 3 stars and less is allowed to be clicked.

SO.. therefore Brampton would be a good rebidding zone? As this would mean no 4* hotels are available in the area?

Just to confirm, what would be your desired budget per night?

$40/50 unfortunately does not look to be a realistic price range for these dates, as rates look on the high side for these dates. The next bid would depend on your budget and how high you would like to go, but I do think a 4* is likely going to be expensive for these dates and could be as much as $80-$110.

Correct - Brampton does not have 4*'s, but there are also additional zones w/o 4*'s, as well.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I put a 3* for Hamilton, 4* for Toronto. I won the 4 star priceline bid in Toronto for $77 (already posted those bids today). I am just unsure about Hamilton because it seems that anywhere I look for bids that won, are quite old. They seem to be in the $70-$100 range though. My budget is cheaper than actually paying normally (haha). Sheraton I can book online now for $130, Courtyard for $170 (both I'm sure are prepaid, no refund rates). I'm new to PRICELINE, and figured I would try it out when I can actually afford to just rent any room if it doesn't work out for me. I just wish free rebidding was easy in Hamilton like it was in Toronto.

Maybe tomorrow I will try something like $90?

Just to clarify... you haven't bid $77 for Hamilton, correct?

With little/no time left before your arrival, the weak US/Canadian dollar, the Sheraton currently selling for $120/nite, and the Courtyard being more expensive at $170/nite, would try as follows:

Select 3.5* bid $80, if rejected lower to 3* and bid $85.

Any questions feel free to ask. If the above is rejected and you choose to book direct, please use our Sheraton link to do so.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
