Can a selection area for bidding hotels be decresed?

I am new to Priceline and Hotwire bidding. I did complete my first Priceline bid a few days ago for a hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. I was able to isolate the area for bidding to downtown where there are things of interest located within walking distance. I would like to also bid for a hotel next week in Birmingham, Alabama. However, the limits for area of Birmingham are quite large and I feel like I am taking a chance on being accepted at a hotel that is miles from the actual downtown area of Birmingham which is where I would like to be. Any advice?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

There are lists in each state section of the forum that provide the hotels that have been reported to the board (there may be others not reported to the board yet) on PRICELINE and HOTWIRE. In terms of the zone boundaries of both services, there is no way to make a zone boundary more specific. You have to be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the designated zone boundary. PRICELINE and HOTWIRE do sometimes have different zones/zone boundaries, so that may be of help if one has a better take on a particular city than the other, but if not, then you have to be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the zone.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I did complete my first Priceline bid a few days ago for a hotel in Louisville, Kentucky.

Can you please add your win to the board as a NEW TOPIC so that other can benefit from your previous purchase.

I'll add to the above that with HOTWIRE you can often take a educated guess as to the property being offered based upon the amenities shown before your purchase. And while your guess could be wrong, at least you can have a little insight as to where within the zone your hotel may be located. As well, with HOTWIRE if the hotel offered shows a breakdown of review rating from previous guests, one of these criteria is 'Location', and you can use this to gain some insight as to whether the hotel is fairly well located or not.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or how we can be of further help.
