schminky Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 Hi there,I love the site and have been using it to research my trip to Maui for the last couple weeks. I would like to go in January, but could push it back to February and wanted to get some advice. Priceline emailed me this morning to notify me of the $6 a night cashback they would add to my bids if made before midnight tonight. About a week ago, I bid $135 for a resort in the Ka'anapali - Lahaina area from Jan 2nd-Jan 9th. It was rejected and I've been rethinking my strategy and considered moving the trip to late Jan, early Feb. Now, this cashback thing has me thinking I should just try $135 again, this time with the $6 cashback added, for 1/3-1/10. Should I try that, or is it just too expensive after New Year's? Should I instead try the same bid for later in January? Lastly, how often does Priceline have a cashback offer? Should I just be patient and wait for the next one, or two, since my trip is five months away?I appreciate all input and thank you in advance.:)m
schminky Posted August 11, 2011 Author Report Posted August 11, 2011 So I bit and bid $135 for 1/3 to 1/10 on a resort in Ka'anapali - Lahaina with the additional $6 cash back making the total $141. I got the Hyatt Regency Maui. I'm pretty stoked. :)

schminky Posted January 12, 2012 Author Report Posted January 12, 2012 We just got back from the Maui Hyatt Regency. It was beautiful! The construction was finished and the lobby, and entire property was gorgeous. Everyone was very friendly and we were able to get a room with two double beds. The room was a resort view in the main building, and ours was of the hotel's golf grounds, but you could see the ocean to the left. It looked exactly like the site's pictures and no need to ask for a refrigerator, it's already in the room, ready to be filled by your groceries. The hotel is beachfront on Ka'anapali Beach, but there are a lot of rocks so just walk about 5 minutes up the beach and find the sandier areas. I recommend using water shoes to walk on the rocks and whip out your snorkels. You can see a lot down there. I bought a floatation device and just relaxed in the shallow area. Truly lovely. They have a lovely assortment of parrots, penguins, flamingos and other various birds there. Two restaurants and and many shops. They even had a store that sold snacks, drinks, souvenirs, etc at better prices than the Safeway. Maui is expensive, so just accept it. Oh, the pool is gorgeous and they have a pool locker area that any guest can access with their key card. Here's a tip. When you checkout, tell them you'd like to use the pool/beach, keep your towel cards, use hotel towels all day, put your luggage in the locker room, enjoy the day, shower and return your towel cards. You'll be fresh for your flight out. I highly recommend and would return to the Maui Hyatt Regency in a heartbeat. What a deal.:)
