graciegrrl Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 Will try again tomorrow. I know the median price for the two 4* hotels in the area is $219. They are the Heathman and the Woodmark Hotel.I added Kirkland to the zone, also Bothell. Tried up to $84.00Is it better to get to the day before and try?
thereuare Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! You're only two days before your arrival, i don't think that one day vs. two days will make much of a difference, but for a further discussion see the 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Regardless of the amount of time before your stay, your bids are only about 1/3 of prevailing rates, which while not unheard, does not give a very high probability of success. Is this a discretionary trip in the sense that if your bidding is unsuccessful you won't take the trip... or what is your back-up plan? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. graciegrrl Posted August 10, 2011 Author Report Posted August 10, 2011 I don't win, I don't -have- to go - I could always do a 3.5 star, but I need lots of space and a big table to spread out to work on a project and those are touch and go in lower stars, I've found.
thereuare Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 My point is that i think you're going to need to bid higher, and given that you're just 2 days from your check-in date, you really don't have time to try to squeeze the last dollar from this stay. I would be bidding at least half of prevailing rates... if that is rejected then the following day try 65%-70% of rates if you really want to try and win something. Same for the 3.5* given that time is short. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. graciegrrl Posted August 11, 2011 Author Report Posted August 11, 2011 Just tried $100/no go even with a 3.5* thrown in there, too. At this rate I can buy a 3 star for $109. boo :)
thereuare Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 What is the 3* you're able to get for $109?While perhaps you're not able to get a 3.5* or 4* for less than a 3*... it's possible you may be able to bid for a 3* for less than you're paying direct. Is bidding for a 3* an option? HOTWIRE has 3* in the Bothell - Woodinville - Kirkland zone for $89 and is very well reviewed... 4.5/5.0 on Tripadvisor and 100% recommended by previous HOTWIRE guests. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. graciegrrl Posted August 11, 2011 Author Report Posted August 11, 2011 Since I will get a known 3* in Redmond for $109 with a full kitchen, my last ditch effort was to bid a 3.5 and 4* for 109 and see what happens!
