Priceline Hotel: 4* NMA - River North 9.17-9.20 - question

I see a lot of people getting 4* NMA area in the $100 range. I have a question that some of you veterans may be able to answer.

Are your chances of winning diminished if you want 2 rooms? If you purchase the insurance?

We are looking for 9/17 - 9/20, is it possibly too early to get closer to the $100 rates? Or do you think the 2 rooms and insurance could play into it?

Please let me know, thanks!

Please read the fine print regarding the insurance - it is mainly for larger reasons why the trip did not happen, it is not that you decided against going or didn't like the hotel.

Rates do vary significantly by dates, and unfortunately, rates on these dates are quite a bit above average - based on regular rates and HOTWIRE rates, I think you may be looking at as much as $120-145 for a 4* in the NMA-River North area. There is a mid-sized convention going on during this time and another larger one on the 20th, so that may be causing some boost to rates.

Just a quick update here, I am still bidding each day in the NMA area and 4*, 3.5*, and 3* now and am trying to stick in the $105, $110, and $115 range. Nothing yet......

Tried again tonight, its getting down to crunch time for out trip. went up to $148 with NMA, Grant and Milen Park, Lincoln Park, and now have added Greater Chicago. 4, 3,5, and 3 stars. No luck.... hopefully there will be some give soon, i really wanted to stay below the 150 mark......

I would not recommend adding Greater Chicago; you could really wind up in an outlying area where there's not much around. Are you driving in or flying in?
