deadesq Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 Wow--hotels in Manhattan are expensive. I'm used to paying $50/night at airport hotels, so $220/night plus taxes was a surprise. But given the price of other hotels, and reading some of the reviews of the lower priced ones, I figured I'd have to bite the bullet. Anyway--two nights at the Radisson Lexington for at total of $540 (yes, $50/night in taxes on Priceline....) was about $70 cheaper than if I had booked straight with the hotel. I used the PRICELINE links here to start, of course, and I went from $180 to $220, dropping from 4* to 3.5* to 3*. Expensive time of the year in the city, I guess. I was hoping to match the $220 for a 4* I saw here on betterbidding for the Intercontinental, but I guess I missed that one. All in all, $270/night for the Radisson is okay, I guess.
thereuare Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 Congratulations on your success! While expensive in dollar terms, glad to see you realized what the NYC market is currently bearing and acted accordingly. You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
