elg0ch0 Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 Hi! I'm looking for a deal 3* or better in NYC: - Budget: $120 - Desired areas: mid-town zones, SoHo, Financial District, Empire State or Times Square - Date: 08/25 - 09/02 It's my 1st time in NYC and not sure if my initial approach is too optimistic... Should I increase budget? or can I get the goal? Bidding strategy suggested is appreciated...

elg0ch0 Posted August 7, 2011 Author Report Posted August 7, 2011 Which zones, by PRICELINE name, are you willing to accept for this stay? Ordered by priority: Central Park South Midtown West Midtown East Times Square - Theatre District Empire state building area Downtown - SOHO - Financial DistrictAre you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* vs. a 3* OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better? Not sure what's the most realistic strategy but I'm open to any suggestion (I'm newbie in the city and in priceline)... Goal is: get the best I can for the money... We are a couple, over 35's who want to know the emblematic city's areas and some shopping while staying in a clean and confortable place (not shared bath is a must). Regards, Any good suggestion is welcome
thereuare Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Ordered by priority: Central Park South Midtown West Midtown East Times Square - Theatre District Empire state building area Downtown - SOHO - Financial DistrictNote that when bidding 3.5* and under in MTE some of the hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway, and in the CPS zone is the Hudson Hotel, which gets decent reviews except for the notoriously small rooms... are both of these acceptable? I do think a 3* or better at $120 or less is going to be a difficult win for these dates, so i would include either/both of these if possible, but you should be aware of these possible outcomes, and ultimately it's your stay so you need to decide of these are acceptable or not.Let us know and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
