Hi,

I'm looking for a bidding strategy for a stay in NYC arriving 9/01/11 departing 09/04/11 (total of 3 nights). It's for my husband (first time in NYC and on a budget). We are looking for a decent place to stay, with nice location. I was thinking about TS/TD, Downtown - SoHo - Financial District, Midtown West. My ideal max bid per night would be around $100. I'm aware that the bid is low, but do you think that it is possible to get a decent Hotel (2 1/2, 3 stars)?

Thank you for your help!

p.s.: any suggestion about other areas in the city for newbies are welcome!

Amelie,

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Probably not.

We typically don't recommend the lower star rated hotels (2.5* and under) in NYC as the quality can vary greatly... there may be some hotels at this star level which work well for your plans, but there may be others which do not... and with PRICELINE / HOTWIRE you can't choose which type you will get.

While some zone may be better then others, given your budget is a bit of a stretch, i would be bidding:

CPS, Chelsea, DT, ESB, HK, MSG, MTE, MTW, TS

If you were to succeed in any of these zones at $100 it would be a 'very good deal' imo. Please confirm if all of these zones are acceptable and we'll advise accordingly.

Hi guys,

I've tried $120,00 max bidding and I got nothing... Then I gave up and made a reservation at The Jane Hotel, through quikbook ($99,00 plus taxes), shared bathroom, tiny rooms, ...

Thank you so much for your help!
