thereuare Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please use separate threads for each leg of your stay... we'll use this thread for the 9/17-9/22 leg, please start a NEW TOPIC for 9/22-9/26.For this part of your stay, you essentially have two options:1) book two rooms via PRICELINE for double occupancy each2) book one room via HOTWIRE for quad occupancyUnfortunately rates are very high for these dates and at the moment i'm doubtful that you'll be able to get two rooms for less then $200/nite each, which leaves one room for quad occupancy up to $400/nite, which should be do-able, but don't be surprised if you get well into the $300's to be successful. We'll try whatever you'd like (option #1 or option #2) but i've included my thoughts on the likelihood of each and what it will likely take to be successful. Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.PS- just noticed your topic title states a 3.5* minimum but your post indicates a 3* minimum, please confirm the minimum star rating for this leg of your trip. Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
lallygagging Posted August 8, 2011 Author Report Posted August 8, 2011 Thanks for replying. Would prefer to stick to 3.5*. Do you happen to know if any events are going on during that week to cause such high prices or is that normal for september? Will have to check on hotwire. Will be walking or using public transportation so need to be convenient for that.Do you have a strategy for priceline? Can 2 rooms be booked at the same time?
thereuare Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Do you happen to know if any events are going on during that week to cause such high prices or is that normal for september? It's typically an expensive time, but the United Nations is in session and that typically consumes a LOT of hotel inventory. Will have to check on hotwire. Do you have a strategy for priceline? Can 2 rooms be booked at the same time? Please first check-out HOTWIRE and determine if there is anything of interest OR if you want to bid on PRICELINE. When bidding on PRICELINE you can book up two rooms at the same time... if you decide the PRICELINE route, what is your maximum bid? Will be walking or using public transportation so need to be convenient for that.If you decide to use PRICELINE, so we can advise on appropriate zones, would a 15 minute walk to the subway be acceptable? Also, note that in the CPS the Hudson Hotel has notoriously small rooms (~150 sq. ft)... would this be acceptable? When thinking about this, also consider that it may be a moot point, for as per above, if you intend to keep your maximum bid at ~$200/nite i think your chances of getting a 3.5* property for this rate are fairly low for these dates. :)Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
