cassafrass Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 Hello! Two of my girlfriends and I are going to NYC to celebrate our 30th birthdays. I'm flying in from Hawaii and the others are flying in from LA and Seattle. I'd be spending the most in regards to airfare, hence the lower budget ;/Travel dates: 10/1-10/8Budget: $200 including taxes and fees3 stars minimumShould I start bidding now or should I wait?Top areas:1. Upper WestI know there are 3 of us and the rooms are only guaranteed for double occupancy, but if we can get $200/night, we're willing to take turns sleeping on the floor or couch. Do you know how much the extra person charge would be?Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Should I start bidding now or should I wait?See the related 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ. However, i feel your budget is a bit of a stretch, i would begin to bid now, as i think any success within your budget would be a 'win'.1. DT/SoHo/Fin Dist2. Hell's Kitchen3. Chelsea4. Madsion Sq Gard5. Empire St6. Midtown West7. Midtown East8. Central Park South9. Times Sq10. Upper East11. Upper WestAre you willing to pay more to be in a zone higher up in your list OR is your goal the least expensive of any of these zones? Also, note that in CPS is the Hudson Hotel which has notoriously small rooms (~150sq ft)... this would certainly be very tight for 3 people and not sure if you would want to stay here for a full week, but it's your stay so let us know. Also, UES and UWS can go pretty far north, as 3 women i'm not sure you would want to stay this far north, but again, it's your stay so please confirm if you want to include these zones.Do you know how much the extra person charge would be?As it's unknown which hotel you will receive, there is no way to know how much an extra person fee might be. It could be free, $50/nite, or an upgrade may not be available/offered at any price.Let us know the above regarding the zone(s) and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cassafrass Posted August 4, 2011 Author Report Posted August 4, 2011 Thanks for your reply!I will most likely start bidding by the end of this week. I was just waiting for the go-ahead from the rest of my party.Yes, we are willing to pay more to be in a zone higher in our list. We would preferably rather stay in the first 6 zones. (I just sent my friends to look at the list of hotels on this site in the different zones and had them rank their top choices, which is why there were 11 of them.) Our max would be $250/night (Taxes/fees included)I will definitely be using your PRICELINE link to start my bidding.
