hatk4 Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 We are staying at the Sheraton Poipu on Kauai Sept 1-5 and are trying to get a room at a resort (preferably the Hyatt in Poipu) for September 6-8, preferably for around $200 a night. We know the Hyatt had Kauai marathon rates at $205 for a Garden Room until yesterday morning and that Garden room rack rates are still available but at nearly twice the cost. We still can get a Delux Ocean Room at a marathon rate of $285 but with taxes and fees it will run nearly $700 for 2 nights.I checked hotwire and they list a 4.5 star hotel in Poipu for $220 a night with the following amenities, Resort Beach Front, Oceanfront , Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Laundry Facilities (self-service, High-Speed Internet Access , Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Spa Services, Children's Activity Program. thereuare Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 Does the HOTWIRE property above also have a Business icon? If so, this is a match for the Grand Hyatt and that would be my best guess for this one.It could always be a hotel other then what we think, but the above (assuming there is also a Business icon) is consistent with previous reports for the Grand Hyatt. Things could, and do, change, but the Sheraton was last reported to the board as a 4* property and with different amenity set then the above.Currently Princeville is a re-bid zone when bidding the Resort category, but always double check (as per Priceline Re-Bidding Explained) before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed since you last checked. When trying to target a specific property HOTWIRE is usually a better option than PRICELINE since you're able to take an educated guess based upon the amenities shown before your purchase... whereas with PRICELINE you could receive any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you bid. While the Hyatt is currently the only 'known' resort class hotel in the zone, it's a calculated risk as to how you want to play it... HOTWIRE is probably a little 'safter, but PRICELINE a little cheaper. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or how we can be of further help.
