Sobriquet Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 2* TS NYC Hotel with the only amenity being complimentary breakfast. I don't see it in the list and Hotwire says "We are still gathering reviews for this property." so I guess it is new? Hotwire also says 2.0-star hotel suppliers include: Comfort Inn La Quinta Days Inn.I know there's an EconoLodge on 47th, Comfort Inn Times Square on 46th, and The Hotel @ Times Square on 46th (which used to be a Super8) all do free breakfast and are in the TS area. I'm unsure if there are others that would fit the bill. Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks :)

Sobriquet Posted August 2, 2011 Author Report Posted August 2, 2011 Thanks for the reminder, I do make an effort to use those links. I just used the link just now to get to Hotwire and look up that rate.

thereuare Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 This property has not yet been reported to the board, but my guess would be the EconoLodge Times Square. However, this isn't much of a discount vs. a conventionally booked room, and i think there are likely better choices... for example the 3.5* Chelsea-MSG property for $167/nite with Fitness, Restaurant, Business, Internet (best guess would be the Doubletree Chelsea)Is there something in particular you're looking for from this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Sobriquet Posted August 3, 2011 Author Report Posted August 3, 2011 Thanks, that was my guess as well. You raise a good point about not being a great deal vs their online rate. I just did a little more looking around and assuming it's that hotel, I could get a cheaper rate using my AAA card. I've passed this hotel many times and it looks decent from what I've seen and I like the included breakfast and wifi, but those aren't necessities. My top priorities are price and location - I'm trying to spend under $400 including taxes and trying to get around TS & MTW, but adjoining areas like MSG & CPS might be fine. I was mostly curious to see what this hotel might be. I will likely do a little more research and do PRICELINE instead (with your link). I appreciate the help!
thereuare Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 The 3.5* HOTWIRE property would fall within your budget and has good reviews. Even if the reviews were 'average', for the same/similar price, i'd sooner take an average 3.5* rated hotel vs. a better rated 2* hotel.Just continue this thread and if you ultimately use PRICELINE we'll move the entire thread to that section of the board when we edit the topic title to reflect you (eventual) win. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board for your bidding, searches and travel purchases. Sobriquet Posted August 15, 2011 Author Report Posted August 15, 2011 I've been trying Priceline for a while and just got the following:3.5* CPS Park Central Hotel for $156 a 12% savings. By far not the best deal I've gotten on Priceline, but it's still a busy season. And of course I used the PRICELINE link. :)
AaronJB Posted August 15, 2011 Report Posted August 15, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Not a bad deal for this CPS property. Hope you are looking forward to your stay.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
Sobriquet Posted August 27, 2011 Author Report Posted August 27, 2011 I thought I'd share this information with the board. I was supposed to check into a hotel I named my own price for on Priceline tomorrow in NYC. Obviously, heading to NYC tomorrow isn't a good idea. I contacted Priceline to find out my options. They had to determine if my hotel was making accommodations, after a short time on hold, he told me that they couldn't change my reservation, but offered to cancel my reservation for a full refund. I took him up on that offer.
AaronJB Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Glad to hear that PRICELINE was willing to work with you on the situation - they are generally very good about weather/natural disaster situations.
