I am out of rebids for today, but i was going to try for 4 star tomorrow.fyi, i did use the PRICELINE link from this website. Thanks
AaronJB Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)What would be your desired budget per night? Rates do vary by dates; these may be busier dates. Thank you for using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.
acerunner Posted August 1, 2011 Author Report Posted August 1, 2011 i'd like to be under $150 a night. additional resort fees are understandable.hmm. i saw some ppl were able to get deals in mid aug. my dates aren't that far off. Hoping to get something close.

acerunner Posted August 1, 2011 Author Report Posted August 1, 2011 yes, i did use the PRICELINE link from here, as mentioned in my original post. Thanks
acerunner Posted August 1, 2011 Author Report Posted August 1, 2011 i've now gone up to $160 for 4* and still nothing....
thereuare Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 Rates are date specific, and rates for these dates are a bit higher then usual, especially the Saturday nite which is showing sold-out at a few properties. Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? If not, what is the best deal you're able to find thru traditional booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. acerunner Posted August 2, 2011 Author Report Posted August 2, 2011 there are not a whole lot of 4* and above available. Cheapest is still in the low $200. More than I want to spend.plenty of 3* available, but lots of mixed reviews. I am open to recommendationsOne in particular that was intriguing, the Wyndham properties. They are cheap and photos look pretty good. But they are timeshares that they are basically renting to you. And reviews say that the salesman pester you about joining the timeshare. What are you thoughts on that?I don't want to split the bid for fear that I would have to get different hotels. That would be too much of a hassle. If I did split, what would be the best split? Saturday night in one bid, then sun & mon night in another?
Romelle Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 Regarding the Wyndham, that pretty much depends on your resistance to salesmen and social pressure. Some people can comfortably, kindly, and firmly shake them off. Others come back with a time-share, or let them spoil an otherwise really nice vacation. As to the split, you want to separate the expensive nights from the inexpensive nights. You can look at a site like Expedia (link under that Support/Travel tab above). It shows rates by day. Or the easy way is to just bid it - sat and sun/mon, then sat/sun and mon. The difference of course tends to be week nights vs weekend nights, and event nights vs non-event nights. So your assumed split probably is the right one, unless there is an event in there somewhere.Romelle
thereuare Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 I don't want to split the bid for fear that I would have to get different hotels. If you split the bid you should expect to receive different hotels... if you don't, that's great, but the idea behind splitting is that (for example) one hotel has a low rate for just Saturday (but not Sunday and Monday) while another hotel has a high rate for Saturday but the best rate for Sunday and Monday... this way you get the best rate for the Saturday nite at HotelA and the best rate for Sunday and Monday nites at HotelB.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. acerunner Posted August 3, 2011 Author Report Posted August 3, 2011 i ended up getting Outrigger Reef for $179 a night through traditional channels. Not the greatest deal, but it's alright for ocean front 4*.
