Priceline Hotel: 5* Las Vegas (Strip North) Wynn

I've been having no luck bidding Priceline for a 5* hotel on Strip North (I want the Wynn or Venetian) for Oct 10 - 14. I've bid up to $160 and i haven't seen any winning bids higher than that. Does this mean there's nothing available? Should I wait until it's a bit closer to the date?

There appears to be something going on during part of this period at the 5* North properties - either the first two or three days of this period are unusually expensive at the Wynn, Venetian, Palazzo, etc. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing a 5* North property (aside from the Trump) for different combinations of these dates when searching on HOTWIRE (10-14th, 12th-14th, etc.)

Not sure if this is the reason, but Indycar is having their season finale at LV Motorspeedway the weekend of the Oct 14th-16th. That could be the reason for the difficulty at this point. Indycar ran a promotion that if you bought a ticket for any of their events this year, you could get one free general admission ticket to the finale. The last I heard, they had given out 40,000+ tickets at this point. How many actually show up . . . ? Who knows, but I'm sure the hotels are aware of this fact, and might be willing to hold the pricing till you get closer to the date.

Thanks for that info. Seems a bit strange though since we'd be checking out when it's starting. I tried again up to $165 with no luck.

I just got the Wynn on Priceline for $160 for Oct 12 - 14. I tried to extend it but they were wanting $530 a night for the first two nights :) Obviously, I rejected that. I'm hoping I can book directly through the Wynn for those nights closer to the date or hopefully it gets added to Hotwire

It is actually Columbus Day on the 10th. That explains the high rates. :)

I don't think Columbus Day is the issue... most traveling to Vegas for the long weekend will already be heading back home on Monday and not staying that nite.

The issue is more likely that there is a 45K Dental Convention 10/10-1013 and a 35K Business Aviation Convention from 10/10-10/12. While on their own either of these conventions could influence rates, combined they will most certainly have an increased effect on rates.
