a.hawk Posted August 3, 2011 Author Report Posted August 3, 2011 Well we ended up finagling around with the number of guests and got a 4 star Streeterville hotel with a pool.....ended up being the Sheraton, with all the previously posted amenities from other posts!!! We are extremely happy!! Do you have any suggestions for us as far as eating, etc.? I did see that you recommended a cafe a bit down from the hotel!!! Thanks!!
thereuare Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 Congratulations on your success!Glad to see you're pleased with the hotel and deal you received. Can you please add a reply to this thread with the room rate per nite and the amenities shown before your purchase (even though already reported to the board having them in the post serves as a historical record for if/when the amenities change)... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay. AaronJB Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 In terms of a convenient option (and I think the food's good, too), Fox and Obel Market and Cafe (fox-obel.com) is a couple of blocks East of the hotel on McClurg and Illinois. The Cafe is a nice option for breakfast/lunch/dinner, but the market is also a nice option to grab something for the day.In terms of other restaurant options, let me know what you're looking for (style, atmosphere, etc) and I'd be happy to offer other suggestions.
a.hawk Posted August 6, 2011 Author Report Posted August 6, 2011 Amenities were:AmenitiesSmoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s)Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed InterneAnd the price was $129/night!!We are Visiting Chicago for the first time in the summer!! We usually are there in the winter for the Dental convention. We have an 8 year old daughter....any suggestions on what we should see/do? We were wondering about the Lincoln Park zoo? We won't have a vehicle, as we are coming in on Amtrak. Thanks for the help!!
AaronJB Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 I don't recommend Navy Pier - I think it's a tourist trap (rides that are fun enough, but expensive - restaurants that are pricey and nothing out of the ordinary, etc.) I do recommend the combination of Lincoln Park Zoo (free, fun) and the nearby Peggy Notabert Nature Museum (admission), which is just a block or so North of the North entrance of the Zoo.
