Hi everyone,

My wife and I are going to be in NY for our anniversary for the nights of 9/11 and 9/12. We're looking around and prices for hotels at that time of the year are very expensive, and we want to give priceline or hotwire a shot. We've never used priceline/hotwire, so we're a little nervous about this.

The specific location we would like to stay in is Union Square, but since selection seems limited, we might be willing to branch out to other parts of Midtown/Chelsea. If we are going to use priceline or hotwire, we'd like a 4 star hotel.

How much should we bid on priceline or hotwire? We were thinking of a max of $250/night.

thanks!

Thanks. I clicked on the links. For hotwire I narrowed down to Chelsea/empire state area, and I see:

3.5 star - chelsea - $227

4 star - chelsea - $336

3.5 star - empire - $288

I guess I can match it up to the Hotwire Hotel List to figure out which hotels it could be.

Is PRICELINE generally a better deal? How do I go about bidding for that?

Do I need to give you more information and am I not being specific enough?

thanks!

We're you able to identify any of the hotels offered on HOTWIRE for your dates?

PRICELINE is usually a little cheaper then HOTWIRE, but HOTWIRE gives the advantage of having a guess as to the property offered and/or knowing the amenities offered by the hotel (if any specific amenities are important to you) and also seeing reviews for the property offered... so that is the trade-off, lower price and more opacity vs. a higher price but greater ability to take a guess as to what you may receive (and see reviews/satisfaction levels of previous guests).

Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
