DOGWITHABONE Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 I just got a 5* LONDON MAYFAIR for $180 USD. The Park Lane Hotel (Sheraton) for 5 nights August 11-16. It was my first bid so I would reco going lower for any one else bidding! After reading the hotel reviews on Trip Advisor the hotel sounds like a bit of a dump :( so i wish I had started my bidding way lower! I hope its okay !!
thereuare Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Sorry to see you're disappointed in the outcome. While the reviews are a bit mixed (i wouldn't say it's a "dump") i think it's a historic hotel which could probably use a little TLC and sprucing up. The hotel does have it's fans, and a management team that cares (based upon their responses to reviews), so if you're not happy with the room you're assigned i would try to discuss it with the front desk and/or management (if you don't get anywhere with the front desk). Any complaints should be tangible things and not 'it just feels tired'. On the other hand, most comments are in agreement that the hotel's locations is great, and hopefully it will provide a good home base for whatever your plans in the city area.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay... hope it goes better then you expect. DOGWITHABONE Posted July 27, 2011 Author Report Posted July 27, 2011 Thanks for the encouraging words and tips! Makes me feel better. (also, I dont think I have ever gotten a Priceline bid on the first try so that added to my underwhelming feelings!) Will let you know how it turns out! (Did I mention I bid through the PRICELINE link on this board?)
