cassienova Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 I've used Priceline to win some great, as well as some mediocre, hotel rooms in Manhattan. I visit at least once a year. I am looking for some better strategies on this forum -- including the question of whether 'tis wiser to wait until the last minute when bidding on 3.5* hotels in Manhattan. I'll be traveling 9/28 - 10/5 (during the New Yorker festival... hard to believe that would make a big diff.) Any advice would be much appreciated!!
thereuare Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messages.I don't know anything about the size of the New Yorker Festival and/or if this would effect hotel rates, but historically this is a very expensive time in NYC, and if you don't typical visit during the Fall, you can definately get sticker shock by some of the rates. As far as when to bid, there i no clear-cut answer to this, sometimes rates go lower as you get closer to your stay... other times they go higher. However, given this is high-season, i would not wait until the last minute, especially for a one week stay. For a further discussion on this subject see the related links in our PRICELINE FAQ.What is your maximum bid for a 3.5* hotel for this stay? Which zone(s) are you willing to accept? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
