Im heading out to New York from California and I'm looking to stay in these areas: CPS, MTW, MTE, ESB and im thinking either a 3* or 2 1/2* im not too worried about the price. Im more interested in the location. Do you think there is anywhere in that general vicinity for roughly $150? Im willing to stay in a 2* if the price is right because were not going to be in the room too often. Ive been denied by Priceline with multiple bids.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

This is an expensive time of year in NYC (pretty much the start of high-season) but i would reconsider bidding 2.5* and below. We don't typically recommend bidding the lower star rated properties in NYC as the quality can vary greatly... you could get something which meets your needs quite well OR you could get something which falls well short of your expectations.

Based upon current prices my guess is that you're likely looking at ~$200/nite for a 3* hotel for these dates... we'll of course start lower and work your way, but i think you're going to need to get close to this amount to secure a win at the moment.

Ive made a few bids, cant remember the exact. But i had it open to several areas and didnt try higher than $150. Im trying to keep the hotel aspect of our trip lower to have money to go exploring.

Is there a specific region in the Manhattan area that is more expensive that the rest in regards to the areas that I previously posted? I want to try and shoot ideally for Central Park South but dont know if thats more expensive than lets say MTE or MTW.

I'm not really sure what you're asking here or how you're trying to use the information, but at the lower star levels it's almost "anything goes".

Are you willing to pay more to stay in one particular zone vs. the others? If not, and your goal is the least expensive hotel in any of the zones you're willing to accept at the minimum star rating you choose, then why not bid all of them (bidding strategically of course) and let PRICELINE assign you the one with the lowest rate?
