Have been reading the tips from the forum here last few days.I've been looking for a Vancouver downtown hotel for last few weeks for July 30 so I can stay downtown after watching the Celebration of Lights fireworks display. However, looks like July 30 weekend is fully booked due to the long weekend. Most websites are only showing only 3 or 4 4* hotels with rooms available, starting at $350+. I saw a post awhile ago about somebody getting a room at Vancouver for $130/night at Marriott Pinnacle, so I used that as a starting point for priceline. I've been increasing bid by $5/day for the last few days, finally had success today at $160. Looks like that was last room available, when I went to the Marriott website to compare to retail price, it said no rooms available. Thanks for all the help/tips from this board :)Edit: Just wondering, I see most people say when they bid, they get a counter-offer. In my case, I was never given a counter-offer. It only said to try rebidding in 24 hours or to change criteria?

Not only is the firework festival on, this is Pride Week in Vancouver with the Parade on the 31st and the Out games happening. I was trying to book the 31st to the 3rd and couldn't get any rasonable bids accepted.
