tonyan03 Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 Saw that Hotwire was listing the property for $73, so i bid $62 and got it on the first try. In retrospect, I should've started lower considering there were so many free zones to increase my bid. Oh well, happy with the price considering the lollapalooza concert was inflating hotel prices like crazy.
AaronJB Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Very nice deal for this Renaissance property. There is not a lot directly around the property, but I do like Barnaby's Pizza across the street - that's definitely an institution, as it's probably been there 30+ years. Not the world's great pizza, but very good. It may be tough (in terms of being walkable/sidewalks), but if you can walk to the North on Skokie Blvd slightly to Dundee, then head East over the expressway on Dundee and a bit further, you'll see the back entrance to the Chicago Botanic Garden (chicagobotanic.org), which is really quite beautiful. The shuttle may be able to drop you at the back/walk-in entrance, as well. This property is dated on the outside - it's been there since the '70's - but it's nicer and more modern on the inside.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
tonyan03 Posted July 27, 2011 Author Report Posted July 27, 2011 Thanks AaronJB for the tips. I actually decided to book that hotel based on your detailed reviews and opinions on it. It's much appreciated!
