megandryan Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 I have never bid and can't decide which is a better way to go for this area hotwire or priceline. Willing to go up to 150 a night if that has anything to do for which hotel you can win priceline. Would rather stay for around 100-125. Staying 8/15-8/17. Just need some advice thanks!
megandryan Posted July 26, 2011 Author Report Posted July 26, 2011 hotwire $118 white house-downtown : fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, high speed internet thank you -----first time bidder
thereuare Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread... if you ultimately use HOTWIRE we'll then move this thread to that section of the board. The amenities above are common for a city hotel but the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill has previously been seen with this amenity set so that would be my best guess for this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes and/or how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. megandryan Posted July 27, 2011 Author Report Posted July 27, 2011 so i bid on white house-downtown area for $103 for 8/15-8/17and when the result came up it said i could bid again and not change any of the options if i raised my bid to $134....i am new to bidding like i said on my other post and i was wondering if anyone knew if this was normal and if it is a good price and also any idea what hotel it is ....sorry for the run-on sentence it is late. thanks for the info
thereuare Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 This is known as a counter-offer and the suggested price can usually be undercut by using re-bid zones (see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained).See this thread Priceline Suggests Price to Pay for more info on this subject. If you're not familiar with re-bidding it's highly recommended you confirm your re-bid zones with the board before implementing.Feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding any of the above or if you would like a detailed bidding strategy. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
