CrazyCamel09 Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 Found a 4* Hotel, Atlanta Downtown. (7/30/11 - 7/31/11) $65, Says 55% Savings, 90% Hotwire Customers Recommend. Fitness Center, Pool, Business Center & Restaurant. I know this matches several options downtown, however was hoping someone could help me to ID this as I am REALLY trying to avoid Hotel Meile which has poor reviews. Please advise ASAP, I have the option to book Courtyard Downtown (Direct) for 87.XX plus Tax, but was trying to shoot for the "High End" hotels with this one. Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 The Hotel Melia (<-- i assume this is the hotel you're referring to) has never been seen with this amenity set, so while it is a possibility given that they have all of these amenities, it wouldn't be my first guess (the Hilton, Hyatt and Sheraton have all been seen with this amenity set so either of these would be my likely, imo)I don't know how negative the consensus is on this property, but with 90% of HOTWIRE guests recommending this property, and 4.5/5.0 reviews across the board, this would also make the Melia seem less likely (again, assuming others are as negative as you are about the property)Ultimately if you're looking for a guarantee there isn't one to be had, but my best guess is one of the other three listed above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide or if we can be of further help. mwr0978 Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 I booked 4* in downtown Atlanta on hotwire last night for $65 per night the second week of August and it was the Sheraton Downtown. The amenity set was the exact same as you listed, Fitness Center, Pool, Business Center & Restaurant. Hope that helps.

CrazyCamel09 Posted July 26, 2011 Author Report Posted July 26, 2011 Thanks all for your help, I ended up deciding to just book through my Marriott Rewards account (fully refundable until 7/30) for the Courtyard Downtown Atlanta. I received a email from them (Marriott) offering a rate of $82.XX + Tax = $100.82 for 1 Night. I agree that the hotel in the 4* Downtown most likely certainly would have been one of the one's you guys named, most likely the sheraton, and probably not the Melia (sorry for the earlier miss-spelling). Given the possible choices out there of the 4* options, does anyone feel I'd be better off to cancel my current resie (courtyard), and still go with the downtown 4* HW option? I know that is a bit subjective, but i've heard good things about the Courtyard, but just mixed reviews about the 4* options on HW for the downtown region. It really only looks to save about $20-$25 for the difference, and as always I certainly understand with PL and HW, there is no such thing as a sure thing :). Off topic, but any reports of the courtyard (where i'm currently booked) being reported in the 3* or 3.5* DT Atlanta Region through HW?Regards,Benjamin
thereuare Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 The current Courtyard in the Downtown zone has not yet been reported to the board (there was previously a Courtyard in this zone reported but that property became a Wyndham)As you point out, whether to stick with your current reservation or go with the HOTWIRE option is subjective. However, the HOTWIRE option (even if it turns out to more accurately be a 3.5* property) would still be higher rated then the 3* Courtyard, it would be less expensive, and given the HOTWIRE recommendation and user reviews (4.5/5.0 across the board) i would think at the very least it's a 'more than sufficient' property. Given the high reviews i would likely take the HOTWIRE option... if the reivews were more 3.5 and 4.0 i would probably take the Courtyard option, but 4.5 across the board is very good, especially on 500+ reviews. Ultimately it comes down to how important location within the zone is for you for this stay and your needs for this overnite.Let us know what you ultimately decide. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. CrazyCamel09 Posted August 2, 2011 Author Report Posted August 2, 2011 Good Evening All,Thanks for your help throughout the research and booking process. Just a quick update. We ultimately decided to book through my Marriott Rewards account, @ the Courtyard Atlanta Downtown. The Priceline options looked promising, however this time I just decided to go with a sure thing. We did click through the PL and HOTWIRE links provided by this site in our visits to each site respectively. Our stay information was 1 Night, 7/30 - 7/31, $82.XX + Tax = $100.28. We were very satisfied with the Hotel, great staff, awesome rooms, very modern, not your typical Courtyard.Best Regards!
