robitude Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 Used your HOTWIRE link and am looking at a listing on Hotwire for the night of 8/6/11 at $219, for a 4-1/2 star hotel in the Chelsea/Madison Square Garden region. Might be a new property - Hotwire's still "collecting reviews" on the hotel. I couldn't figure it out based on the Hotwire hotel list; it's got all the same amenities as the the Hilton New York Fashion District (formerly the Wyndham Fashion 26), except that it's got a pool, something the Hilton doesn't have. Here are the amenities:- Boutique- Smoke Free Rooms- Fitness Center- Pool(s)- Restaurant(s)- Business Center- High-Speed Internet AccessAny possible ideas on this property would be appreciated - thanks!
robitude Posted July 22, 2011 Author Report Posted July 22, 2011 I've been digging around a bit to try to figure this out, since there appear to be virtually no hotels in this part of Manhattan with pools, let alone 4.5* hotels that also have pools. Any chance this could be the Hotel Gansevoort (in the Meatpacking District)? It seems to match the amenity profile, and I could see it qualifying as a 4.5*. Biggest strike against it is that it's technically a couple blocks south of this region's border. But since the absolute location of the hotel doesn't overlap with any of the Hotwire regions, maybe they put it in Chelsea/MSG?

It has 4.5 stars, it has all the amenities, it's in Chelsea, and its new (so its reviews are still coming in). Here's the link to the Expedia info:http://www.Expedia.com/New-York-Hotels-Dream-Downtown.h4434143.Hotel-Information
thereuare Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 Nice detective work from both of you! :)I'm not sure what this hotel is, but given the Hotel Gansevoort is outside of the zone boundaries, i think the Dream Downtown would be a better guesss. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help. robitude Posted July 26, 2011 Author Report Posted July 26, 2011 Thanks everyone! I decided not to go with a Hotwire/Priceline option this time, but I'll be sure to book future trips using BetterBidding's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links. I agree that there's a strong likelihood this listing is for the brand new Dream Downtown; we'll see if anyone can verify this down the road.

robitude Posted July 30, 2011 Author Report Posted July 30, 2011 Thanks for closing this thread... what did you decide to do for this stay?My travel partner and I decided that there was a specific hotel we wanted to stay in as a one-off in NY; it's not one that appears to come up often as a win on Priceline or Hotwire, so we just booked directly from the hotel. Not usually how I do things though - I'll be back to Hotwire on future trips and will be sure to use your site's links for my booking!
