Bama Fan Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 I am also looking for a downtown Nashville for an upcoming weekend trip. If priceline downtown Nashville is only showing three 3 1/2 star hotels for downtown Nashville. Could you be fairly certain you would be bidding for one of the three on a 3 1/2 star? This may be a dumb question so don't bash me too hard.
jasonh1234 Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 Not a dumb question, although you would expect it to be one of those three listed, there may not be another listed if they dont have rooms on at the exact time you searched and the dates u selected when checking, but may release rooms at any given moment. Look at the Pinned Priceline Hotel list and compare with your information. Beware going past 3* Hotels in the DT Nashville area, as some 2.5* are in not so pleaseant areas near DT.FYI: All the 3.5 * Hotels I have stayed at in DT Nashville using Priceling bidding have been superb. Based on my experience $55-75 is what u should expect to pay for 3.5* in DT Nashville, on weekend using the bids.
Bama Fan Posted July 21, 2011 Author Report Posted July 21, 2011 Thanks Jason.I just checked again and there are four 3 1/2 *s listed. I'll wait and see if it goes back to 3 and bid then.
thereuare Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 Bama Fan,Welcome to BetterBidding!NOTE that the 'retail' side of PRICELINE and the 'bidding' side of PRICELINE each use a different universe of hotels, so you can't (and shouldn't) use the retail listings to determine what you will get when using the bidding side of their service. See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Is there specific property that you're trying to target or avoid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Bama Fan Posted July 22, 2011 Author Report Posted July 22, 2011 I'm trying to narrow it down to just downtown Nashville. Preferably within walking distance of clubs and other "things to do" for a weekend trip. I haven't narrowed down my dates yet but sometime in August.
Romelle Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 Take a really close look at the PRICELINE map of the downtown area before you start bidding. You have to be prepared to land anywhere on that map. Romelle
thereuare Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 I'd have a look at HOTWIRE as they divide separate this area into two different zones, "Downtown-Metrocenter" and "Vanderbilt Univ. - West End - Music Row". As well, you can take an educated guess as to the property being offered to ensure (assuming you guess correctly) that the hotel is in the part of the zone you want t be. Additionally, you can use the location rating from previous HOTWIRE guests to at least get a feel if the hotel is well located or not (while a 4.0 rating won't ensure that it's where you're looking to stay, you know that a 3.0 is probably not where you want to stay). HOTWIRE will likely cost a little more then PRICELINE, but it will give you a little more control over where within the zone you'd like to be (as well as the zone being geographically smaller)Once your dates are firm let us know what you're seeing and we'll try to assist further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
