AlSleet
Boy do I feel burnt by this one. Unless Radisson has made some serious changes, I would have been better off paying more for a 2* hotel near the airport. I had checked their package deals and the only two 3.5 star hotels that came up were the Marriot and the Hyatt. Both were accaptable and both had the same amenities, so I bit. We've stayed at this hotel before through a Priceline bid for about the same amount of money. The rooms are decent but well worn. The problem was the staff. There was none. The deck clerk doubled as the valet and the restaurant waiter was doind triple duty as the host, waiter and room service. The saving grace is the cost is only $47 plus fee's and it's only for one night. The bad part is my wife is probably going to hurt me. It's either this or not tell her what I've done and eat the lose. Here are the details from Hotwire. thereuare
Thanks for the report, but i'm a bit confused... You list the win at as a Doubletree but also say "... unless the Radisson has made changes..."Is this hotel now a Radisson or a Doubletree? AlSleet
Actually, from you're own hotel listing I knew that Radisson had taken over the downtown Doubletree. That and Hotwire listed it both ways. I also received this E-mail from Hotwire confirming the change from Doubletree to Radisson.---------------------------------------------------------------------------DearThis email is regarding your hotel booking in Kansas City, HotwireItinerary Number 6...........We have been informed of a change regarding your upcoming stay at theDoubletree Hotel Kansas City. The hotel has changed their name toRadisson Hotel & Suites Kansas City-City Center. Please be assured thatthe star rating and amenities are the same. The hotel still holds yourreservation and your original Hotwire Itinerary Confirmation with theDoubletree Hotel Kansas City. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may causeyou. Thank you forvisiting Hotwire.---------------------------------------------------------------------------So I'm hoping that the Radisson can make some changes before we stay at this dog again. The last time we were there the rooms were well worn but accaptable for a one night stay. My major issue was there wasn't enough staff working to operate the hotel. I stood at the front desk for a very long time with no one in sight to check in. There wasn't any bell to ring to call anyone either. No staff in the restaurant, no bellman, no valet et.... Essentially, it was almost a self serve motel instead of a 3 star hotel. I've actaully had considerably better service out of 1 and 2 star motels, which is why I'm upset about getting stuck here again. So, I'm hoping Radisson makes some improvements or at least hires enough staff for the hotel to be run properly.
