Hi! I was wondering if anyone could help me with what hotel this might be.

We are looking to book August 10 - August 12.

It is a 3 star hotel, at $87 a night in Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville Area.

It has: Smoke free rooms, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry center and high speed internet.

Any help would be appreciated. I was also wondering how close this area is to tourist attractions like shedd aquarium and sears tower.

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

This is a possible match for either the Four Points Sheraton or Holiday Inn Mart Plaza.

The Shedd is the to the South of the Loop area - it's a trek from the hotels North of the river, but it's a pleasant trek through the city and along the lake (or you could take a bus.) Neither of these properties is hugely far from the Willis Tower, although if this is the Holiday Inn, it's easy to take the train from next to that hotel a couple of "L" stops South.

I will note, however, that there is a coupon online ($5 off) for the Hancock Observatory (see: http://www.chicagoofficeoftourism.org/chic...5.html#hancock)

There are quite a few city coupons on that website.

Parking at downtown hotels is quite expensive and ranges from $35-55 per night, with the $40-50 range being common.

Parking at city lots (Navy Pier, Millennium Park) is about $25 + tax.

Hotels in the suburbs are cheaper and mostly offer free parking, but require a 35-45 minute train ride into the city. The 'burbs are quite nice, though.

Overall, I've said previously it's best - if possible - to not have to drive into the city. It's too expensive and a hassle. Staying in the burbs when driving is cheaper and takes parking cost out, but requires a significant train trip on the Metra trains (which are nicer than the CTA trains.)

If you stay downtown, Chicago is really a compact city (as big cities go) and pretty easy to figure out. If the weather's nice, it's not really even particularly necessary to take much in the way of public transit - the city is largely walkable.

Unfortunately, the North burbs - which are what I usually recommend - appear about as expensive on these dates as the city.

In terms of city parking, there should be no need to take the car out to go around the city during the stay. The city lots - Navy Pier and Millennium Park - are reasonably centrally located, so you could park in either and walk to your hotel.

Thank you for all of your help. I guess my last question is, we are coming from West Michigan. Would you recommend taking the Michigan City train into the city? Or driving in and parking in one of those lots for our stay?
