hi there,

this will be my first time trying the name your price. I would like to get 2 hotel rooms, times square area (unless other areas are also very central as I've never been to NYC either) for 3 nights in October. Was thinking of asking for a 3* for around $140-150.

what do you think? is it possible? wondered if it helps that i need 2 rooms, not just one.

any help is appreciated...

Welcome to BetterBidding!

This an expensive time of year in NYC and based upon current prices i'm doubtful that $150 will be enough for a 3* hotel in the TS zone. Even if you add other nearby zones, which i'd recommend doing to increase your chances, current rates suggest your budget will likely fall short.

At the 3* level MTW, TS, ESB and MSG all typically work well for the average user and are generally centrally located. CPS is well located too, but it also contains the Hudson Hotel which has notoriously small rooms... if a small room is acceptable then this zone is fine to include in your bidding as well. The MTE zone has some hotels which can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway, so you'll have to decide if this is 'close enough' or 'too far' for your needs and include/exclude this zone accordingly.

Let us know your thoughts regarding the zone(s) above and we'll take it from there.

Thanks so much!

I think I will try MTW and TS at $150 to start for 3*. I would like to get under $200 per night including taxes/fees. Am I still crazy? I can't change my dates and, although I am not as concerned with my hotel, my friends coming with us are a bit nervous to go too far from TS.

any other tips before i try?

So to confirm you're looking for a 3* or better hotel in the TS or MTW zones with a maximum bid price of $165 (which will bring you to about $200 all-in)... this correct?

At current prices i still don't think this will likely be enough, but you can try as follows:

At the 3* level you have ONE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 3* TS...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* MTW...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* TS and MTW...

If the above is rejected wait 24 hours from your last bid and use this link to re-access PRICELINE, and re-try:
